What is the difference between Rotary and Rotaract?

A.

Rotary is the adults program composing of its members that form a global network of business, professional and community leaders who volunteer their time and talents to serve their communities and the world while creating professional and business partnerships for the common growth of themselves and their communities. The Rotary's motto, “Service above Self”, exemplifies the humanitarian spirit of the organization's more than 1.2 million members. Later on, as part of its international program for mentoring the young, RI established Rotaract Club (meaning Rotary in Action) composed of youth aged 18-30 as part of its community. Q?

Are There Age Restrictions?

A.

Rotaract members typically range between the ages of 18 and 30 years of age. Beyond the age of 30, members have the opportunity of joining Rotary through our transition program (or may choose to stay involved with Rotaract).

Q?

What Are The Membership Requirements?

A.

Membership requires 60% attendance. International Rotaract requirements clearly state that to be considered an active member of Rotaract, you must attend 60 percent of all Rotaract events. We will continue to offer an average of three activities per month (our club meeting, leadership luncheon and at least one service or social event) and will be sure to take attendance at each event. By attending an average of one event per month (whether it be a monthly meeting, service event, luncheon, or social) it is easy to meet this requirement. Members must also pay 200 birr in annual dues.

Q?

What Are Annual Dues?

A.

There is annual fee of 200 birr per member. As a chartered club we are responsible for managing our own funds. Annual dues will be used to cover club expenses and charitable contributions only, and all uses will be fully disclosed during regularly scheduled meetings. However, by no means should dues discourage your participation. If meeting the dues requirement would prohibit your membership in Rotaract, contact an officer directly and we will make arrangements with you so that you can remain fully active.
