The "ideal of service" is the key phrase in the Object of Rotary. This ideal is an attitude of being a thoughtful and helpful person in all of one's endeavors.
Rotary International in Ethiopia comprises of over 200 business, professional leaders, and governmental officials including the late Prime Minster Meles Zenawi and president of Ethiopia as well as current Minster of Foreign Affairs as their honorary Rotarians.
Our global movement of service to the needy has more than sixty years of existence in Ethiopia and invested millions as well in key areas of community needs. One of the areas which, the polio eradication initiative is a global program which has been primarily undertaken by rotary in partnership with worldwide organizations including the WHO, USAID, Bill and Melinda gates Foundation and the Rotary Foundation which has invested in billions of Dollars to eradicate polio form around the world. Ethiopia’s endeavor has also made a significant change in making the country free form polio which is supported by the ministry of health and the government of Ethiopia which was had international attention at an event held at the national palace hosted by the President of Ethiopia his Excellency Dr. Mulatu Teshome.
